Using Tethyr Narrative Description

Once you understand how to navigate Tethyr it’s time to use it. Tethyr is designed to make your life easier by reducing the amount of time you spend switching and searching and increase the amount of time you spend watching and working. This section goes over the features you use to enjoy Tethyr including managing your content, importing and discovering content and sharing your content.

Supported Content

An interface is nothing without the content inside of it. Tethyr’s goal is to support all platforms and programs. You can see a list of what currently works in Tethyr on the Supported Content page.

Playlists

Editing your Playlists and Playlist Groups In the current version of the demo you are not able to edit your playlist groups, we will configure playlist groups for you, please contact us if you want us to do something. Creating a new playlist You can create a new playlist in a playlist group by using the New Playlist Button which is located in the Playlist Actions button. When you do this make sure you do it in the Playlist Group that you want to have it in. Creating a new playlist You can create a new playlist in a playlist group by using the New Playlist Button which is located in the Playlist Actions button. When you do this make sure you do it in the Playlist Group that you want to have it in. Filtering Playlists Clicking the filter icon on the Playlist Header shows the playlist filter bar. Using the filter bar enables you to quickly search inside of your playlist. You can search for particular text using the text box or use the filter switches. Context: Right now, in the demo, playlists are much smaller and more static then they will be in the release version of TYR. In the future playlists will have the ability to become very large and be constantly updated with new content. At that point the filter bar will give a lot of control over the playlist, and become very important.Known Bugs: Currently the “filter switches” (categories, users, length, location, platform) do not work.Playlist Actions The Playlist Actions button is in the playlist header. On rollover the available playlist actions are displayed. The currently available playlist actions are: -New Playlist -Export T.csv -Import T.csv -Meta -Set as Master -Update from Master -Autoupdate on/off toggle A detailed breakdown of each of these is on the Playlist Actions page.

The Function Buttons

Importing Content

Clicking the Import Content button opens up the frontendAdd dialogue. Using the dialogue you can paste links, specify which content type it is and select which playlist to send it to. You can see an extensive overview on the Importing Content page. Pending Feature: In the future importing content into TYR will be much simpler, you will simply drag and drop directly into the preview cube and it will add to that playlist, we will also have browser plugins that add “Send to Tethyr” buttons next to importable links.

Search Content

Clicking the Search Content button opens that dialogue and you can do a cross platform search inside of TYR. The Search Content dialog has three parts Search area Enter your search term and use the filters to specify your search. Search results See the results from that search. Select the search results you are interested in by clicking the checkbox next to the result. Clicking the checkbox adds to the video to your list. Your list The videos you have selected appear here. Once you have completed your list you select which platlist you want to send the videos to and do that by pressing the “send to playlist” butto Known Bug: The Search Content feature is in a very early stage and some of the category sorting is not active. Pending Feature: In the future you will be able to call results from platforms as well as the TYR database using this tool but for now it only searches videos inside the TYR system. Wiki Button Pressing the wiki button brings up the Tethyr wiki in the player window.

Mobile View

TYR has a layout designed specifically for mobile use, the M1 Layout, it is a streamlined playlist view with less features. You can read about it on the mobile View page.

Community Tags

A major feature of Tethyr will be the importation of moderated tags into playlists. So if you have an interest such as “Nebraska Volleyball” you can search for a relevant tag and import that into your playlist. Once that tag is in your playlist you will get it’s backlog of content and when new content is added to that tag it will be added to the playlist. This will allow you to create totally unique dynamic playlists with ease. Additionally you will be able to create and share your own tags as well as edit the ones in your playlist.
